I would rather the whole series..,, if I really live an author it is hard up wait but I like the flow of a series because you don’t lose site of who is who and how they tie into the next book.
I hear you, Dana. If it’s an author I love, I’m willing to wait (though the eons between Outlander books…oy!) But it’s hard, so it’s always nice when I discover an author and all the books are done!

I love finding a new author with a lot of books already published. Then, assuming I love the books, I can binge read and then pick up each new one as it comes out. With a long series (if it’s been a while since the last book) I will re-read the whole series ending with the new book. Unfortunately, I am a fast reader so I sometimes struggle to keep my addiction fed.
Oh, golly, I can relate, Peggy! I wish I didn’t read so fast! But it’s not so bad needing to re-read, as I often find nuances I didn’t catch the first time around.

I prefer to wait for all books in a series to come out B4 I start them. But I am getting tired of the series that now go way beyond 3 books. By the time a series gets to 6, 7, 8 or more books I don’t know who is who and I very rarely read a series over. I really like single books but there are very few authors who write single books anymore – I still love to read.
I’m sorry to hear that, Carolyn. Speaking as an author, what I hear most is how much people love connected books, and I love them, too, I have to admit. In my Sweetgrass books, I’ve tried to include family trees, character lists and such (plus they’re on my website) to help folks keep track of who is who. But I understand your frustration.

Yeah, you’d be waiting a long time if you wait for Nora to be finished! I told her once I didn’t know what would be worse, for her to die before me so there’d be no more wonderful books ahead or for me to die first and know I missed some!!

Yvonne, I so hear that! That’s a hard publishing schedule for many authors to meet, though, and the time between publications differs tremendously depending on whether the author is indie and thus, more in control of her career (the reason most of us made that choice) or if the author is traditionally published, so the house is in control of all that.

I personally would like to read a series as a book to book experience but I read a lot of series once all the books are out and bundled

If it is a trilogy, I’ll wait for all three. If it is along running series (i.e. JD Robb In Death) I’ll get them as i see them.
