Aren’t these tips interesting? Of course, in the 1920s, when this cookbook came out, refrigeration was still by blocks of ice for some, so the reliance on other methods of preservation makes total sense. (I always wonder, when I read about ice in the days before electricity made the making of ice easier, how on earth anyone, especially in southern climes, managed it!)
And the burnt cake fix…who knew? That’s why resources like these just fascinate me!
