This book is extraordinary! I absolutely could not put it down. A haunting dilemma and a story premise that was absolutely riveting. The characters engaged me from the start, and I worried from page one about where they would land. No spoiler here, but I’m exceedingly glad I hung with it (not that reading it was any hardship at all–lovely prose and fully-realized characters!) and feel richly rewarded for the time I invested in reading it. My first exposure to her work, but I’m already hunting for which to read next. My hat is off to Ms. McGhee for a masterwork.
