It’s a heck of a thing when you are barely past halfway in a book and already thinking about what you’re going to say in your recommendation! I can’t even be sure I’m going to like which way this story goes in the end—I can root for both guys easily—but I do know already I am going to be sorry to finish it. Always the sign of a great story!
Update: So now I’m finished, and I won’t risk spoiling anything by getting specific; I’ll only say that clearly this author has a bright future in store. She made me tense enough that no way was I going to bed before I finished—I wouldn’t have slept a wink! Then, despite how I balked a little at the way the ending spooled out (I suspect that’s a generational difference only) to have me wind up sighing over who ended up with whom—that’s the mark of an author I’ll want to read again. The cartoon cover doesn’t begin to do justice to the complexity of the story inside.
So treat yourself to a lovely, lush and clever tale filled with a love that absolutely bathes your heart, told in gorgeous emotional prose. Kudos, Ms. Greenberg! I’m delighted our paths crossed!
