I’ve been in a sock streak as they’re small projects and go great while watching football. (Nervous knitting like crazy!) So nothing fun to show you until now.But here’s a new baby quilt for a mom with two kids already. The kids down the line don’t get baby showers or big deal treatment, but I admire this young mom and how hard she works to make her family strong and safe and cherished, so I offered to do this as a tribute to her.
The dad is a former bullrider and they’re living the cowboy life, which will explain the center image of the bullrider, in case you wondered!
All these square are good/bad: clear quilting lines but a total pain to iron the seams in back. With a bunch of these, you can never get them all going in predictable directions, since ironing toward the darker fabric is the basic rule. I once saw a quilt made of 1 inch squares (STACY can you insert a googly eyes emoji?)!!!! I would have given a lot to see the back and how on earth all those seams were managed! It wasn’t hand-quilted, though, so machine quilting has an easier time of all those seams. I kinda think (but I don’t machine quilt) that the machine would prevail over seams in a way that’s tough for hand quilters trying to stitch in the ditch.
Anyway…no idea where this quilt is going (as usual) but this is the fun part for me, the design work. I’ll keep you posted!
