Hi, Gang!
I'm drawn to the strong, haunted hero, one
who has demons to battle but never feels sorry for himself, a
man who will face danger and who will sacrifice what he yearns
for most, in order to do what is right for those he loves.
A man like Eli Wolverton.
Eli has already made that sacrifice once
before, as a teenager. Framed by the man who murdered Eli's
mother, he walked away from Gaby Navarro without a word. Broke
her heart, in order to protect her. Now he's back, accused of
another crime, the object of an intense manhunt. The safest
choice is to leave, but he won't.
Because this time, the only way to protect
Gaby is to stay near her. Even though she has no reason to
believe in him.
Soulmates parted, then reunited...with long
odds against them....yum. Love this stuff!
I hope you'll enjoy this last spinoff from
my novel Mercy, where you first met Gaby as Mona
Gerard Fitzgerald's assistant, the Baby Barracuda. And for
those of you who've written me about how much you loved the
characters in my Deep in the Heart series (and thank you
very much!) well...read on. There's a little surprise for you
in Gaby and Eli's story.
Right now, I'm working on a novella for the
first anniversary next February of the new Harlequin
Everlasting Love line. If you're not familiar with
these books, they're stories of what happens after the
happily-ever-after. The motto for the line is "Every Great Love
Has a Story to Tell"—and for those of you who read my book
Coming Home, my editor said they would have loved
that story for this new line. If you've ever wished for tales
of more mature couples and stories of longtime love facing the
realities of life, rather than the more typical romance which
centers on the thrill of first attraction, then this line could
be just your cup of tea. I've also written a full novel for
Everlasting Love, but I don't have a release date yet.
And then there's my latest venture, one I
would have told you was absolutely not for me: I've been asked
to write one installment in the 2008 Harlequin NASCAR
series! What I knew about NASCAR two weeks ago would have left
plenty of open space on the head of a pin, but one of the things
I adore about being a writer is learning new things, so I said
"Why not?" Then I proceeded to immerse myself in all things
NASCAR, including watching about 4.5 zillion hours of the
Bristol race at which the Car of Tomorrow premiered. In a
week's time, I went from wondering why people wanted to watch
cars go around and around for hours to someone who's honestly
fascinated by this very complex sport. My husband just
scratches his head as he watches me glued to the TV or
NASCAR.com, gushing about my latest discovery or wrinkling my
brow over discussions of automotive specs...but he's been a
great sport about it, and I'm having fun!
You just never know what adventures lie in
wait, if you're open to them. Jean, a NASCAR fan—whodathunkit?
Thank you so much for all your lovely
letters and emails. It is an enormous privilege to be allowed
to share with you, through my stories, my deep conviction that
love is the most powerful force in the world. I wish love and
all blessings to each and every one of you.
All my best,
